Marjayoun: An Israeli drone strike on a vehicle in southern Lebanon resulted in the death of one individual, as reported by Lebanese state media. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, involved Israel targeting a Hezbollah member despite an existing ceasefire.
According to Anadolu Agency, Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) detailed that the Israeli drone targeted a vehicle on the outskirts of Rab Thalathine in the Marjayoun district. The strike claimed the life of a man engaged in maintenance work on the roof of a nearby house.
The Israeli military released a statement confirming the operation against a Hezbollah operative in Markaba, another location within the Marjayoun district, but did not divulge further information. Hezbollah has yet to respond to Israel's assertion.
The drone strike is part of ongoing tensions and violations of the ceasefire agreement established with Lebanon in late November 2024. Despite the agreement, Israel has continued operations against what it terms Hezbollah infrastructure.
These ceasefire breaches have resulted in numerous Lebanese casualties and injuries. Additionally, Israel maintains control over five Lebanese hilltops seized during the recent conflict, along with other territories held for decades.
The conflict traces back to October 2023, when Israel initiated military operations against Lebanon. The hostilities escalated to a full-scale war by September 2024, leading to over 4,000 fatalities and approximately 17,000 injuries.
