Beirut: Two people were killed Monday in separate Israeli drone strikes in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese health authorities and state media.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that an Israeli drone strike targeted a motorcycle in Beit Lif, located in the Bint Jbeil District, resulting in one casualty. Earlier reports from Lebanon's state-run National News Agency indicated that an Israeli drone attacked a motorcycle in the Jouar area of Beit Lif, injuring a man who was subsequently taken to a local hospital. His death was later confirmed by the health ministry.

In a separate incident, the agency reported that another Israeli drone targeted a car in the town of Deir Kifa, within the Tyre District. The Health Ministry later confirmed that this strike led to another fatality, raising the death toll to two from the attacks.

Neither the Lebanese health ministry nor the National News Agency have disclosed further details about the identities of the victims. The Israeli military has not issued any statements regarding these strikes.

Cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon escalated into a full-scale war in September 2024. Despite a ceasefire agreement in November, Israeli forces have been conducting frequent attacks in southern Lebanon, claiming to target Hezbollah activities.

Since the ceasefire, Lebanese authorities have documented nearly 3,000 Israeli violations of the truce, which have resulted in the deaths of at least 232 people and injured more than 530.

Under the ceasefire agreement, Israel was expected to fully withdraw from southern Lebanon by January 26, but the deadline was extended to February 18 after Tel Aviv's non-compliance. Israel still maintains military presence at five border outposts.
