Ramallah: Israeli forces demolished and blew up six Palestinian homes and a shelter tent Tuesday during raids across the occupied West Bank, according to local Palestinian officials and witnesses. The coordinated demolitions occurred in multiple regions, including Shuqba, Qalqilya, Nablus, and Hebron, highlighting the ongoing tensions in the area.
According to Anadolu Agency, in the central West Bank, Israeli forces demolished two homes under construction in the village of Shuqba, west of Ramallah. The demolitions were carried out in the Al-Atari area with military bulldozers, under the claim that the buildings lacked necessary permits in Area C. Shuqba village council head Khalaf Qaddah identified the homeowners as Wael Salama Qaddah and Abdul Qader Shalash, noting that the homes had a combined area of about 330 square meters. Qaddah reported that this incident marked the 25th demolition executed by Israeli forces in the town since the beginning of the year.
In Qalqilya province, Israeli forces demolished a three-story home in the village of Jit, east of the city. Local sources revealed that the home, covering approximately 175 square meters, belonged to Khalaf Yamin. The operation involved storming the northwestern part of the village with a military bulldozer.
In Nablus, Israeli forces blew up a home belonging to the Al-Zagha family, after surrounding it for hours during a comprehensive raid on the city. Eyewitnesses described flames and smoke emanating from the site following the explosion. Detainee Al-Zagha, held for 10 days, was reportedly brought to the site before the demolition.
In Hebron province, Israeli machinery began demolishing two homes and a residential tent. Palestinian anti-settlement activist Osama Makhamra stated that the homes, each covering 200 square meters, had been constructed several years ago. Furthermore, a residential tent sheltering five members of the Radi al-Jabareen family was also demolished, following the destruction of their home about a month earlier.
The demolitions have raised concerns regarding violations of international humanitarian law, as the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 prohibits the destruction of civilian property, except in cases of absolute military necessity. Such actions displace families and affect their livelihoods, which often rely on farming and herding activities.
According to UN data, Israeli demolitions of homes and structures in the occupied West Bank in 2025 displaced more than 1,700 Palestinians. During the first half of this year, Israeli authorities executed 341 demolition operations, destroying 740 Palestinian structures, and issuing 254 new demolition notices, as reported by the official Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission.
Since the onset of Israel's military actions in Gaza in October 2023, the occupied West Bank has witnessed a significant increase in attacks by the Israeli army, resulting in at least 1,179 Palestinian deaths, 12,666 injuries, and approximately 24,000 arrests, according to official Palestinian figures.
