Maariya:Israeli forces detained two Syrians during an incursion into Maariya village in the western countryside of Daraa province in southern Syria. One of the detained individuals was later released.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Israeli force, consisting of 12 military vehicles, entered the village overnight using the northern road known as Wadi Road, approaching from the direction of the plain. Local sources reported that the forces conducted raids in several residential neighborhoods, searching homes and detaining two residents.
While one detainee was released, the fate of the other remains unknown. Earlier reports from Syrian Alikhbariah TV mentioned the detention of a young man during the same incursion, prior to additional details being provided by the news agency.
This incursion is part of ongoing Israeli military activities within Syrian territory. President Ahmad al-Sharaa addressed these actions in his speech at the UN General Assembly, citing approximately 500 airstrikes and artillery attacks, over 1,200 incursions, and about 300 arrests and detentions by Israel since late 2024. Sharaa reiterated Syria's commitment to the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement and demanded the withdrawal of Israeli forces to positions held before December 8, 2024.
