Sanaa: Two Syrian children were injured Monday when Israeli forces opened fire on civilians in the southern province of Daraa. The incident occurred in the village of Jamla in the Yarmouk Basin area of the western Daraa countryside.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that the children were wounded as Israeli forces fired toward a group of residents. The circumstances and motive behind the shooting remain unclear, and Syrian authorities have yet to release a statement regarding the incident. This event is part of ongoing Israeli violations of Syrian sovereignty in the region.

In recent months, areas of southern Syria have been subject to repeated Israeli incursions and attacks, including raids, searches, arrests, and the establishment of military checkpoints. Following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024, Israel declared the 1974 disengagement agreement with Syria void and moved into the UN-monitored buffer zone. Syria's new administration has emphasized its commitment to the agreement.

Despite the absence of direct threats from Syria's new leadership, Israel has continued its airstrikes and ground operations in Syria, leading to civilian casualties and damage to military infrastructure.
