Tulkarm: Israeli occupiers escalated attacks Tuesday on Palestinian towns and villages in the northern occupied West Bank, burning three vehicles, attacking homes and damaging a power grid.
According to Anadolu Agency, Palestinian anti-settlement activist Bashar al-Qaryouti reported that a group of occupiers attacked citizens' homes in the area between the villages of Jalud and Talfit, south of Nablus, and set fire to three vehicles. The occupiers also attempted to ignite a residential building, but residents intervened, preventing the fire from spreading.
In another incident early Tuesday, occupiers damaged part of the electricity network in the town of Madama, south of Nablus. Rami Nassar, the head of the Madama village council, stated that occupiers from a newly established outpost between the towns of Beita, Tell, and Madama damaged electricity poles supplying the town. This marks the second such attack in a week, causing power outages in parts of the town, Nassar informed Anadolu.
Villages south of Nablus, particularly Jalud, Qaryut, Talfit, Qusra, and Madama, have seen a rise in occupier attacks. These include burning property, assaulting residents, attacking homes, and destroying infrastructure and farmland, often under the protection of the Israeli army.
In the West Bank city of Tulkarm, Israeli forces raided and vandalized the residence of Muayyad Shaaban, head of the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, as reported by the commission. The Palestine Liberation Organization-affiliated commission stated that Israeli forces raided Shaaban's home overnight. The commission linked the raid to an ongoing campaign targeting Shaaban and his family, noting that two of Shaaban's sons remain in Israeli detention.
The commission focuses on documenting and resisting Israeli settlement policies in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem. Since Israel began its genocide in Gaza on Oct. 8, 2023, Israeli army and occupier attacks against Palestinians and their property have intensified across the occupied West Bank. These attacks have resulted in the deaths of more than 1,182 Palestinians, injuries to around 13,000, and the arrest of nearly 24,000 in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, according to official Palestinian figures.
Palestinians warn that Israel is using these attacks to pave the way for the formal annexation of the West Bank, undermining the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state under relevant UN resolutions.
