Israeli Forces Kill Palestinian, Seize Body in Qabatiya Incident

Qabatiya: The Israeli army on Monday shot and killed a Palestinian man in the town of Qabatiya, located in the northern West Bank, and seized his body, as confirmed by the Health Ministry. The incident also left another individual injured.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Health Ministry stated that the General Authority for Civil Affairs, which serves as a liaison with the Israeli side, reported the death of the Palestinian by Israeli gunfire. The victim was identified as 33-year-old Yousef al-Amer, with the Israeli army withholding his body.

Witnesses revealed that Israeli forces surrounded an agricultural warehouse situated between the towns of Mirka and Qabatiya, targeting it with shoulder-fired rockets. This action resulted in the death of al-Amer and the destruction of the warehouse. Following the incident, Israeli military vehicles bulldozed the site and retrieved the body before withdrawing.

The ministry also reported that a 21-year-old individual was wounded by Israeli gunfire and subsequently arrested in Qabatiya.

Since October 2023, amid ongoing conflicts in the Gaza Strip, at least 1,013 Palestinians have been killed and over 7,000 injured in the West Bank by Israeli forces and settlers, as per the ministry's data. Additionally, the International Court of Justice issued an advisory opinion last July, declaring Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories illegal and urging the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
