Israeli Forces Raid Syria’s Quneitra, Detain 2 Young Men

Quneitra: Israeli forces staged two raids into Quneitra in southern Syria and detained two shepherds, in the latest violation of the Arab country's sovereignty.

According to Anadolu Agency, the raids saw Israeli forces advance into the southern Quneitra countryside and detain two young men near the town of Tal al-Darayyat. Additionally, Israeli forces moved into Ofania town in the northern Quneitra countryside.

The incursion follows a similar action the previous day when Israeli forces entered the village of Al-Samadaniya al-Sharqiya in the Quneitra countryside and conducted searches of several houses in the area.

These actions are occurring despite an agreement reached by Syria and Israel on January 6 to establish a US-supervised communication mechanism aimed at coordinating information sharing, reducing military escalation, engaging diplomatically, and exploring trade opportunities.

Israeli forces have continued to target Syrian territory almost daily, particularly in the Quneitra and Daraa countryside in southern Syria. The raids involve detaining civilians, setting up checkpoints to search and question passersby, and damaging agricultural land.

Israel has occupied most of Syria's Golan Heights since 1967 and, after the ouster of the Bashar al-Assad regime on December 8, 2024, announced the collapse of the 1974 disengagement agreement, moving to occupy the Syrian buffer zone.

Syrians express that these continued Israeli violations are undermining efforts to restore stability and hindering government attempts to attract investment to improve the country's economic conditions.
