Ankara: Israeli artillery shelled the outskirts of Beit Jinn in Syria's Damascus countryside for the second time, targeting the area around Bat al-Warda hill. Earlier, Israeli forces targeted the outskirts of the town with an artillery shell that landed on agricultural land west of Beit Jinn.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Israeli army has repeatedly targeted Beit Jinn and its surroundings. The area around Bat al-Warda hill was also shelled on September 5. Previously, the same area was hit with four artillery shells on September 3, and three shells on August 29. On August 22, an Israeli drone struck a civilian car on the Beit Jinn road, causing injuries. The UN Disengagement Observer Force toured the site to document the impact.

In a related development, a reporter for Syria's Al-Ikhbariah TV reported that Israeli forces opened fire on civilian homes in Maariya town in the western Daraa countryside. The report did not provide further details on casualties or damage.

Areas in southern Syria have seen repeated Israeli incursions and military operations since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in December 2024. Damascus claims that the Israeli actions violate Syria's sovereignty and the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement, demanding the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Syrian territory.
