Israeli Gunfire Injures One in Southern Syria

Quneitra: One person was injured by Israeli gunfire in southern Syria, as reported by local media. The incident took place in the town of Jubata al-Khashab, located in the northern countryside of Quneitra, while the individual was reportedly collecting wood.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) stated that the person injured was a young man. However, no further details were provided regarding his identity or medical condition. The Israeli army has not yet commented on the report.

In recent months, there have been several instances of the Israeli army conducting cross-border raids into Syria's southern provinces, including Quneitra. These actions have continued despite international calls to respect Syria's sovereignty.

Following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in late 2024, Israel expanded its occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights by taking control of the demilitarized buffer zone. This move was in violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement with Syria.
