Ankara: Three Palestinians were injured on Tuesday after Israeli occupiers attacked the town of Raba, east of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank, medical and local sources said. The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that its teams treated the injured individuals, who were subsequently transferred to a hospital for further care.
According to Anadolu Agency, the head of the Raba village council, Ghassan Bazour, stated that a group of occupiers attacked the home of Palestinian resident Yassin Hassan Silawi in the northeastern part of the town. Silawi and his two sons were severely beaten during the incident. The occupiers also attempted to steal sheep from the family's farm. Bazour indicated that the attackers originated from a settlement outpost built on the town's land in the Jabal al-Salmi area, and noted that Raba has been experiencing repeated attacks.
Approximately 750,000 occupiers reside in 141 illegal settlements and 224 outposts throughout the occupied West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem. These occupiers have been conducting attacks aimed at forcibly displacing Palestinians. During the first half of this year, occupiers carried out 3,488 attacks against Palestinians and their properties, as reported by the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission on July 6. These attacks involved raids on Palestinian villages, burning homes, opening fire, seizing land, and establishing settlement outposts, resulting in the deaths of 17 Palestinians.
In another incident, the Israeli army demolished an inhabited Palestinian home in the town of Sa'ir, east of Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank, leading to the displacement of a family of seven. Local sources informed Anadolu that Israeli forces, accompanied by bulldozers, raided the Wadi al-Sharakh area and demolished the two-story building belonging to Palestinian resident Fouad Jaradat.
Adel Jaradat, the homeowner's son, shared that the Israeli forces raided the area without prior warning, instructing the family to remove children and personal belongings before initiating the demolition. He expressed their shock and dismay at the sudden destruction of their home, which they had invested significant effort to build. The demolition was justified by the pretext of constructing without a permit in Area C, which, under the 1995 Oslo II Accord, falls under full Israeli control and constitutes about 60% of the occupied West Bank.
The Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 prohibits the destruction of civilian property except in cases of absolute military necessity. According to the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, Israeli authorities conducted 341 demolitions in the first half of this year, destroying 740 Palestinian structures and issuing 254 new demolition notices. The United Nations reports that Israeli demolitions have displaced more than 1,700 Palestinians in 2025.
Palestinians warn that such demolitions and occupier attacks serve to pave the way for the formal annexation of the West Bank, thereby undermining the potential establishment of a Palestinian state in accordance with relevant UN resolutions.
