Ankara: The Israeli parliament's recent legislative move towards the annexation of the occupied West Bank has been declared "null and void" by the Turkish Foreign Ministry. This step, according to the ministry, stands in violation of international law and undermines ongoing peace efforts.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Turkish Foreign Ministry emphasized that the West Bank, including East Jerusalem-which has been under Israeli control since 1967-remains Palestinian territory. The ministry's statement highlighted the timing of this move as particularly provocative, given the ongoing attempts to establish peace in Gaza, and warned of the potential threat it poses to the region's already fragile security and stability.

The statement from Ankara called for the international community to prevent what it describes as Tel Aviv's "unlawful faits accomplis in the West Bank." It reaffirmed Trkiye's commitment to defending the "inalienable rights of the Palestinian people" and supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Furthermore, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz condemned the Israeli parliament's decision, labeling it as "sabotage towards the fragile ceasefire in Gaza and a threat to regional security."
