Azor: An Israeli Border Police trainee was killed in what local media reported as an accidental shooting involving a soldier in central Israel. The incident took place in the town of Azor, where the trainee was fatally shot during what was described as an unintended discharge of a firearm.

According to Anadolu Agency, the shot was fired by a friend serving in the army. Police stated that two individuals connected to the incident were detained for questioning. One of the detainees is a soldier from the Givati Brigade.

Israeli police and the Military Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Israeli military data indicates that 925 soldiers have been killed since the start of the Gaza war in October 2023, including 471 who died in ground fighting in the enclave.
