Jerusalem: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday criticized the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) for altering its logo to resemble the Palestinian Authority (PA) emblem. The decision has sparked controversy and drawn a sharp response from Israeli leadership.
According to Anadolu Agency, Netanyahu's office issued a statement claiming that the logo initially shown to Israel by the NCAG differed significantly from the one publicly disclosed. The statement emphasized Israel's refusal to accept the use of a Palestinian Authority symbol, asserting that the PA would not be involved in Gaza's administration.
Netanyahu has consistently sought to maintain a clear separation between the two entities and has opposed any involvement of the PA in Gaza. However, he acknowledged last week that PA representatives would participate in managing the Rafah Border Crossing between Gaza and Egypt.
The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza has yet to respond to Netanyahu's comments. The committee was created to implement the second phase of US President Donald Trump's Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict. It operates alongside an Executive Board and a Gaza Executive Board, which support its mandate.
The NCAG is a non-political entity responsible for overseeing daily civil service operations. It comprises 11 Palestinian national figures, led by Ali Shaath.
