According to Anadolu Agency, Yedioth Ahronoth daily quoted a senior official close to Netanyahu stating, "The die is cast - we are going for a full occupation of the Gaza Strip." The official emphasized that operations would proceed even in areas where hostages are present, suggesting that any dissent from the IDF chief of staff could result in resignation. Israeli Channel 12 highlighted this move as a major strategic alteration, while public broadcaster KAN noted that Netanyahu decided to broaden military operations despite opposition from the security establishment.
Yedioth Ahronoth reported that US President Donald Trump had given Netanyahu the 'green light' to advance the assault. Senior officials affirmed the direction towards full occupation, including operations in areas with hostages. Meanwhile, Israel's Channel 13 indicated that the chief of General Staff, Eyal Zamir, canceled a planned visit to Washington due to the breakdown of ceasefire discussions and the increasing drive for expanded military operations.
