Jerusalem: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a stern warning to Iran, threatening 'a very severe response' should Tehran initiate any military attack against Tel Aviv. This declaration was made during a press conference held on Monday evening in Jerusalem, where Netanyahu was joined by Greek Cypriot Administration leader Nikos Christodoulides and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
According to Anadolu Agency, the tensions between Israel and Iran have been escalating recently, fueled by Israeli accusations that Tehran is accelerating its production of ballistic missiles. The situation intensified after Israel launched a surprise attack on June 13, targeting Tehran's military, nuclear, and civilian sites, as well as its senior military commanders and nuclear scientists.
In response, Tehran retaliated with missile and drone strikes, prompting further conflict as the United States intervened by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites. This 12-day conflict eventually came to a halt under a US-sponsored ceasefire, which took effect on June 24. Despite the ceasefire, the atmosphere remains tense, with Netanyahu's latest warning underscoring the fragile nature of the current peace.
