Beirut: Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of at least 22 people and have left many others injured since early Friday.
According to Anadolu Agency, the violence escalated as Israeli forces targeted various locations across the country, leading to significant casualties and destruction.
In southern Lebanon, the eastern outskirts of Sidon witnessed the deaths of eight individuals and injuries to nine others following an Israeli strike on a residential building. Rescue teams in Qleileh, situated in the Tyre district, are actively searching for missing persons after recovering two bodies from a collapsed building targeted at dawn.
In the Nabatieh district, an Israeli drone attack on a motorcycle claimed one life on the road between Kfartabnit and Arnoun. Additional casualties were reported in Yater, a town in the Bint Jbeil district, where another airstrike led to the death of one person.
The central Bekaa Valley was not spared, as an Israeli airstrike in Bar Elias killed the two sons of a local Islamic Group official, Youssef al-Dahouk, while injuring him and two others. Further attacks in the Hermel district have also been reported.
The capital city, Beirut, saw its southern suburbs targeted, resulting in one fatality as a car was struck in the Jnah area. Meanwhile, in the Hasbaya district, Mahmoud Akrama Nassif and Hadi Mohammed Kanaan were victims of a drone attack on the outskirts of Shebaa.
In Sidon, the aftermath of another residential building strike has left authorities yet to determine the final toll of casualties. Sheikh Hassan Ghandoor lost his life in Nabatieh al-Fawqa after an attack on his home. In the Nabatieh district's town of Abba, an Israeli strike killed Attaf Muallim Sabra and injured her husband.
Additional reports indicate an Israeli drone attack on a car in the Tyre district, killing one person on the road to Shaaitiyeh. Strikes continued in the areas between Siddiqine and Ramadiyah, as well as Tayr Felsayh, while artillery shelling targeted the outskirts of Qawzah and Ramieh in the Bint Jbeil district.
Tragically, two children died in an airstrike near Al-Safir School in the Al-Ghaziyah municipality. Medics from the Civil Defense of the Islamic Message Scouts and the Islamic Health Authority were also killed in Souaneh village, though the number of casualties remains unspecified.
The escalation follows Hezbollah's response to ongoing Israeli attacks, which began on March 2, despite a ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024. Israel expanded its operations, including a limited ground incursion in southern Lebanon on March 3, in a campaign alongside the United States against Iran launched on February 28.
Lebanese authorities reported Thursday evening that the country's death toll has reached 733, with 1,933 wounded and approximately 822,000 people displaced due to the intensified Israeli attacks.
