Israeli Strikes Claim Lives and Breach Ceasefire in Southern Lebanon

Beirut: One person was killed, and seven others were injured in Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon, marking a new violation of the Nov. 2024 ceasefire agreement, the Health Ministry said. A ministry statement detailed that the casualties were reported in the attack targeting the town of Ebba in the Nabatieh governorate, where one individual lost his life and six others sustained injuries.

According to Anadolu Agency, a separate incident occurred when a person was injured after a car caught fire in the town of Harouf in the Nabatieh district. This was reportedly due to being targeted by an Israeli drone, as reported by Lebanon's official news agency NNA.

Israeli ceasefire violations have resulted in numerous casualties and injuries among Lebanese citizens, with Israel maintaining control over five Lebanese hilltops seized during the recent conflict, as well as other territories held for decades.

The ongoing conflict began with Israel's military operations against Lebanon in October 2023, which escalated into a full-scale war by September 2024, resulting in the deaths of more than 4,000 people and injuries to approximately 17,000 others.

Lebanese officials have repeatedly urged international pressure on Tel Aviv to halt its attacks and comply with the ceasefire terms. Meanwhile, Hezbollah has reiterated its commitment to the truce, calling for Israel's withdrawal from the areas occupied during the conflict.
