Gaza: Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip over the past two days have resulted in civilian casualties and the destruction of essential medical supplies, according to Board of Peace's lead envoy, Nickolay Mladenov, on Sunday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Mladenov stated that the escalation occurred following significant efforts by the Board of Peace and mediators from Egypt, Trkiye, Qatar, and the US to secure an agreement from Palestinian factions on a roadmap for the full implementation of US President Donald Trump's Gaza plan. Mladenov highlighted that the roadmap proposes Palestinian factions in Gaza relinquish civilian governance and decommission their weapons.

Mladenov emphasized that both parties have obligations under the Comprehensive Plan and the Sharm El-Sheikh deal, which secured the release of all hostages. He mentioned that his team is tirelessly working with involved parties, mediators, and regional partners to de-escalate the situation and create an environment for the full implementation of Trump's plan. He acknowledged the challenges in achieving lasting peace but stated it is possible with concerted efforts.

The recent Israeli attacks have resulted in the deaths of at least 18 Palestinians, including three children and an unborn baby, along with several injuries, marking a breach of the ceasefire effective since October 10, 2025. The strikes on Sunday followed similar attacks on Saturday, which killed eight Palestinians and injured others.

Gaza's Health Ministry issued a warning on Saturday about the impending collapse of the enclave's medical system after Israeli forces targeted a drug warehouse at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, exacerbating the existing severe shortages of medicines and medical supplies.
