Beirut: Israeli drone and air strikes in southern and eastern Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of 16 individuals and injuries to 21 others, including paramedics, along with damage to a school, as reported by Lebanese officials. This incident marks a significant breach of the existing ceasefire. According to Anadolu Agency, two fatalities occurred due to drone strikes in Mefdoun, while areas between Zawtar al-Sharqiya and Zawtar al-Gharbiya were targeted by additional airstrikes. The National News Agency of Lebanon reported that four more individuals lost their lives, and three were injured in a separate strike on the residence of a municipal council head in Zellaya, western Bekaa. Rescue operations are currently underway at the site. An Israeli strike on a vehicle between Zawtar al-Sharqiya and Mifdoun in southern Lebanon led to the deaths of two people. In another attack, an Israeli drone targeted paramedics from the Islamic Health Authority in Deir Kifa, resulting in injuries to three paramedics who ha ve been hospitalized. A separate airstrike in Aadchit, within the Nabatieh district, resulted in one fatality. An Israeli strike in Saksakiyeh, Zahrani area, caused the deaths of five individuals and injuries to 15 others. However, the Health Ministry later reported that the Saksakiyeh strike led to four deaths and 33 injuries, including six children and four women. In the Tyre district, civil defense teams recovered two bodies following a strike on a vehicle near al-Siraj Secondary School between Wadi Jilo and Tayr Debba. Israeli warplanes also struck Rishknaniyah, Safad al-Battikh, Baraachit, and Qallawiyeh, causing significant damage to a school in Burj Qallawiyeh. Furthermore, Israeli warplanes completely demolished a residential home in Bir Zbib, Doueir, Nabatieh district. On Tuesday, the Israeli military conducted approximately 60 attacks across Lebanon, resulting in five deaths and multiple injuries as hostilities persist since March 2. Despite the ceasefire announced on April 17 and extended until May 17, daily Israeli strikes continue in Lebanon, leading to widespread destruction of homes in numerous villages, reminiscent of past conflicts in Gaza. Since March 2, Israeli assaults have resulted in at least 2,715 deaths, 8,353 injuries, and the displacement of over 1.6 million people, representing about one-fifth of the population. Israel maintains control over parts of southern Lebanon, including longstanding occupations and territories seized during the 2023-2024 conflict, with advancements approximately 10 kilometers inside the southern border amid ongoing hostilities.
