Beirut: Two people were killed and two others injured in fresh Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon on Thursday, in the latest violation of a ceasefire agreement, the Health Ministry said. A ministry statement indicated that an Israeli drone attacked a truck in Naqoura in the Tyre district, resulting in one fatality.

According to Anadolu Agency, another Israeli strike targeted a vehicle on the Toul-Kfour highway in Nabatieh, leading to another death and wounding two additional individuals. The ongoing conflict between Israel and the Hezbollah group in Lebanon escalated into a full-scale war last September. Despite a ceasefire reached in November, Israeli forces have continued to conduct frequent attacks in southern Lebanon, citing Hezbollah activities as the reason for these strikes.

Since the ceasefire agreement, Lebanese authorities have documented nearly 3,000 violations by Israeli forces, resulting in the deaths of at least 236 people and injuries to more than 540. The ceasefire deal stipulated that Israel would fully withdraw from southern Lebanon by January 26, but this deadline was extended to February 18 after Tel Aviv's non-compliance.

Currently, Israel maintains a military presence at five border outposts, further complicating the fragile peace between the two nations.
