Gaza: At least 16 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed and others injured in a series of Israeli strikes early Wednesday targeting displacement tents, a house, and a gathering of civilians in the Gaza Strip. This occurred despite a ceasefire agreement in the enclave, as reported by medical sources.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Palestine Red Crescent Society confirmed that two people, including a paramedic, were killed and 12 others wounded in shelling around Street 5 in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. The injured were transported to the Red Crescent's field hospital in al-Mawasi. Medical sources later indicated that the death toll rose to three.

Local sources reported that casualties followed an Israeli helicopter attack on a tent housing displaced individuals in al-Mawasi. As ambulance crews attempted to evacuate the wounded, an Israeli drone reportedly targeted the rescue team. Nasser Hospital received the bodies of three individuals killed by Israeli artillery fire in the Qizan Rashwan area, south of Khan Younis, which is outside Israeli military control.

In Gaza City, four Palestinians were killed, and others injured due to heavy Israeli shelling that struck homes along Yaffa Street, al-Sikka Street, and al-Hajar Street in the al-Tuffah neighborhood, also outside Israeli-controlled areas, according to medical sources. Al-Shifa Hospital received the bodies of two women and a girl after Israeli forces shelled a tent in the al-Mahatta Park area of the al-Tuffah neighborhood.

Additionally, two elderly individuals and a child were admitted to the same hospital following Israeli artillery targeting the Street 10 area in the al-Zeitoun neighborhood in southeastern Gaza City, as reported by hospital officials.

Despite the US administration's January announcement of the second phase of a ceasefire deal, which includes further Israeli withdrawals from Gaza and reconstruction efforts estimated by the UN to cost about $70 billion, the Israeli army has continued to violate the agreement. The ceasefire ended a prolonged Israeli offensive beginning in October 2023, which resulted in nearly 72,000 Palestinian deaths, over 171,000 injuries, and the destruction of about 90% of Gaza's infrastructure.
