Ankara: Israel's current actions in the Middle East are leading the region towards a potential disaster, stated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan expressed his concerns at an iftar event held at the presidential complex in Ankara. He highlighted that recent attacks on Gaza, Yemen, Lebanon, and Iran are not purely driven by security concerns. Erdogan emphasized the importance of conveying these facts to the global audience, especially at a historic moment when the post-World War II global system is experiencing significant changes.

Erdogan accused Israel of unjustly closing Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first qibla for Muslims, for 17 days, criticizing the lack of authority behind this decision. He suggested that the narratives surrounding promised land ambitions and apocalyptic scenarios are intentionally constructed.

He called for the world to reject imposed agendas and to expose the realities of what he described as "barbarity" and a "state of madness" emanating from the ongoing conflicts. In particular, Erdogan pointed out the ongoing US and Israeli joint offensive against Iran since February 28, which has resulted in over 1,300 deaths, including the death of then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Tehran has responded with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries. Iran alleges these strikes are in response to US military assets, causing significant casualties, damage to infrastructure, and disruptions in global markets and aviation. Additionally, Israeli forces have intensified their operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
