Rome: Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has expressed deep concern over the ongoing clashes in Syria, urging all parties involved to work towards halting the violence and achieving stability in the region. "I am following with concern the clashes in Syria," Tajani stated on X, emphasizing the need for a collective commitment to end hostilities and safeguard communities and civilians.

According to Anadolu Agency, Tajani highlighted the importance of all parties committing to cease the violence. He stressed, "We hope for the commitment of all parties to end the violence." Tajani further assured that Italy is collaborating with its international partners to swiftly contribute to an agreement that will ensure stability and the protection of all communities, including civilians in Syria.

The situation intensified as Israel launched airstrikes on Wednesday targeting Damascus, including the Defense Ministry and areas near the presidential palace. These strikes coincided with renewed Israeli attacks in the southern Suwayda province, accompanied by warnings that operations would persist unless Syrian forces retreated. The Israeli military asserts that the actions are aimed at safeguarding the Druze minority.

Tensions in the region escalated after the Syrian army deployed troops to Suwayda to restore order following violent clashes between armed Druze and Bedouin groups, which resulted in at least 30 fatalities.
