Italy to Summon Israeli Ambassador Over Blocked Cardinal Entry in Jerusalem

Rome: Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated that the Israeli ambassador will be summoned to the Foreign Ministry following an incident where Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa was blocked from entering a church in Jerusalem, which prevented him from conducting Palm Sunday Mass.

According to Anadolu Agency, Tajani expressed his actions on the US-based social media platform X, where he mentioned, "I have instructed that the Israeli ambassador be summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs tomorrow to provide clarification on the decision to prevent Cardinal Pizzaballa from celebrating Palm Sunday." The incident involving the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, unfolded when he was denied entry to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, hindering his role in the significant religious event.
