Italy Triumphs Over Trkiye as France Stages Dramatic Comeback Against Belgium

Ankara:Trkiye's attempt to recover fell short as Italy clinched a 3-1 victory in the UEFA Nations League, while France mounted a late surge to defeat Belgium 4-1 in another League A Group 1 match.

According to Anadolu Agency, Italy secured the lead in the 26th minute when Giovanni Di Lorenzo's cross found Gianluca Scamacca, whose half-volley deflected slightly off Ozan Kabak before going in off the underside of the crossbar. Italy maintained their 1-0 advantage into halftime.

Trkiye equalized in the 61st minute when Yunus Akgun set up Zeki Celik, whose low cross was tapped in by Aral Simsir after Eren Elmali's assist. However, Italy regained the lead just three minutes later. Nicolo Barella's free kick found Riccardo Calafiori, who headed past Ugurcan Cakir in the 64th minute. Substitute Pio Esposito confirmed Italy's win with a close-range goal in the 87th minute. The victory took Italy to seven points from four matches, leaving Trkiye without a point.

In another match, France overturned a deficit to beat Belgium 4-1 at the Stade de France, with substitutes Desire Doue, Rayan Cherki, and Michael Olise all scoring. Belgium initially led in the 35th minute through Dodi Lukebakio's strike. France's head coach Zinedine Zidane made tactical changes after halftime, introducing Olise and Cherki in the 60th minute, followed by Doue.

Doue equalized in the 77th minute, and four minutes later, Olise assisted Cherki, whose deflected shot put France ahead. Olise scored again in the 88th minute, and in stoppage time, Doue set up Olise for his second goal, sealing the 4-1 victory. This win solidified France's position as group leaders with 10 points from four matches, while Belgium remained on six points.

In other results from Monday's matches, Northern Ireland drew 0-0 with Georgia, Ukraine lost 1-2 to Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina secured a 1-0 win over Poland, Romania was defeated 0-1 by Sweden, Cyprus beat Latvia 2-1, and Montenegro drew 0-0 with Armenia.
