New York: More than 350 rabbis, along with Jewish creatives and activists, have signed a full-page ad in The New York Times condemning President Donald Trump's proposal for the forced removal of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. The ad includes signatories from various Jewish denominations and notable figures such as Tony Kushner, Ilana Glazer, Joaquin Phoenix, and Peter Beinart. It boldly states, 'Trump has now called for the removal of all Palestinians from Gaza. Jewish People Say No to Ethnic Cleansing!'

According to Anadolu Agency, leaders emphasized their moral opposition to any plan that would displace Palestinians, drawing on historical parallels and ethical imperatives. Cody Edgerly, director of the In Our Name Campaign, underscored the ad's timing, asserting their unwavering solidarity with Palestinians. 'Our message to Palestinians is that you are not alone, our attention has not wavered, and we are committed to fighting with every breath we have to stop ethnic cleansing in Gaza,' said Edgerly.

Rabbi Toba Spitze, senior Rabbi of Congregation Dorshei Tzedek in Newton, Massachusetts, highlighted the historical weight of such proposals, referencing historical instances of ethnic cleansing. She compared the plan to Hitler's intention to make Germany Judenrein-cleansed of Jews-emphasizing the violence such fantasies can lead to.

Beinart, a prominent journalist and commentator, critiqued the American Jewish establishment for their support of the proposal. He expressed his horror at the willingness of respected community figures to support what he considers a potential major crime of the 21st century.

Comedian and activist Ilana Glazer called on Jews and others to oppose Trump's proposal, stressing the importance of standing up for Palestinians' rights to remain on their land and rebuild their lives in Gaza. She emphasized the interconnectedness of all people's safety in this context.

Rabbi Yosef Berman of the New Synagogue Project in Washington, DC, drew biblical parallels, comparing Trump's actions to those of Pharaoh in the Bible. He condemned Trump's plan as morally abhorrent, illustrating the perceived hubris and dangerous implications of such a proposal.
