Beirut: The Jordanian army intercepted and shot down two drones targeting the kingdom on Monday, the military announced. A military source stated that no casualties or material damage were reported during the interception, as reported by the state-run Petra news agency. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to Anadolu Agency, Jordan has consistently intercepted Iranian missiles and drones that have entered or approached its airspace amid the ongoing military confrontation between the US and Iran. Iran has claimed these actions targeted US military bases in the region. Earlier, the Israeli military reported intercepting two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) near the Jordan border, stating that the drones did not cross into Israeli territory and that the origin of the launch was under review.

A measured calm has returned to the region following weeks of intense military exchanges between Iran and the US. These tensions extended into several neighboring countries. On Sunday, Iranian military spokesperson Amir Mohammad Akraminia stated that Iran halted its military operations after the US ceased its attacks on Iran.

According to an Axios report on Saturday, US President Donald Trump instructed the US military to refrain from launching new strikes on Iran, concluding nearly two weeks of daily military actions. Tensions between the US and Iran have escalated in recent weeks, with Washington executing attacks on Iran and Tehran responding by targeting US military facilities and equipment across the region.
