Amman: The Jordanian army announced that its air defense systems and Royal Jordanian Air Force aircraft successfully intercepted seven missiles and six drones launched from Iran toward the kingdom. There were no casualties or material damage reported from the incident.

According to Anadolu Agency, an unnamed military official confirmed that the air defense systems and aircraft effectively neutralized the threat. The interception operation ensured the safety of Jordan's territory, and the Royal Engineering Corps teams were dispatched to manage the debris in line with established technical and security procedures.

Earlier, the Iranian army claimed responsibility for the drone attacks, stating that its operations targeted US military personnel and facilities in Bahrain and Jordan. The assaults were aimed at fuel and weapons depots, aircraft hangars, and troop housing areas at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain and Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.

The incident has occurred amid heightened regional tensions following US President Donald Trump's announcement on July 8, terminating the ceasefire detailed in the US-Iran memorandum of understanding. Since the ceasefire's dissolution, hostilities have increased, with both the US and Iran conducting strikes in the region, targeting each other's military facilities and equipment.
