Istanbul: Turkish prefabricated buildings company Karmod has successfully completed the installation of container-based site mobilization units for a significant mass housing development in Istanbul's Tuzla district, as announced by the company on Wednesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the installation was carried out for a project initiated by Turkey's Housing Development Administration (TOKI) in the Aydinli neighborhood of Tuzla. The comprehensive development plan includes 954 housing units, 60 retail shops, and a 24-classroom primary school. The mobilization site spans 1,500 square meters across 20 blocks and was completed within a span of 20 days.

The installation comprises four 244-square-meter container dormitory buildings, a 112-square-meter cafeteria, separate 63-square-meter offices designated for occupational health and safety staff as well as the site physician, two 53-square-meter field offices, seven toilet and shower containers, two boiler room containers, and two 24-square-meter multipurpose container units.

Karmod Container General Manager Ensar Cankaya highlighted that the company has established itself as a solution partner for urban renewal and new housing developments in Istanbul by introducing innovative approaches to site mobilization. He emphasized that the company has supported the fast-paced requirements of housing projects with next-generation container structures designed with site safety as a priority.

Cankaya further explained that Karmod has developed its container systems to endure challenging construction site conditions, leveraging its expertise in worker mobilization. He noted that the next-generation container model, employing bolted and interlocking systems instead of welded connections, has significantly simplified on-site installation processes.
