Astana: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that the trade volume between Kazakhstan and Russia is nearing $30 billion during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in Astana.

According to Anadolu Agency, Tokayev was quoted by Kazakhstan's presidential press service, Akorda, stating that 122 major projects valued at approximately $25 billion have been executed through bilateral cooperation. Tokayev emphasized the significant results achieved, highlighting Russia as Kazakhstan's primary trade, economic, and investment partner.

The discussions underscored the strengthening of the strategic partnership and the rapid advancement of mutually beneficial dialogue, as well as the effective execution of high-level agreements. Preparations for an upcoming state visit to Kazakhstan by Russian President Vladimir Putin in May were also a focal point, with Tokayev describing it as a crucial event.

Mishustin congratulated Tokayev on the successful constitutional referendum in Kazakhstan earlier this month and assured him of the Russian government's commitment to ensuring a successful visit by President Putin to Kazakhstan. He also recalled Tokayev's visit to Russia last November, noting that both governments are diligently working to meet the objectives set by their leaders.

Mishustin arrived in Kazakhstan on Wednesday for a three-day official visit, meeting with his counterpart, Olzhas Bektenov, on Thursday. He is also scheduled to participate in the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting in Shymkent from March 26-27, as stated by the Russian government.
