Astana: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Sunday expressed concern over missile attacks targeting civilian infrastructure in Bahrain and other states not directly involved in the ongoing conflict with Iran.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Kazakh presidential press service Akorda reported that Tokayev conveyed support and solidarity with Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa during a phone conversation. He emphasized Kazakhstan's commitment to a peaceful resolution of the crisis through dialogue and diplomacy.

In response, King Al Khalifa thanked Tokayev for his support and reaffirmed Bahrain's dedication to enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade, economics, and investment.

Regional tensions escalated on Saturday following US and Israel strikes on Iran, resulting in the deaths of several senior Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Tehran retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, US-linked assets, and multiple Gulf states. The Iranian strikes have impacted Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Inside Iran, the Iranian Red Crescent reported at least 201 fatalities and 747 injuries resulting from US-Israeli attacks since Saturday.
