Ankara: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of joint information technology (IT) development with Trkiye during a press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara. Tokayev highlighted Kazakhstan's commitment to advancing IT collaboration as part of his official visit to Trkiye.
According to Anadolu Agency, President Tokayev acknowledged Trkiye's advancements in the defense sector and congratulated President Erdogan on hosting the 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) in Istanbul. Tokayev noted that Trkiye's military industry achievements were prominently displayed at the event, garnering international recognition for its contemporary technologies.
Tokayev stated that Kazakhstan has also made significant progress in the IT sector, with efforts from Astana contributing to advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technology. He emphasized the potential for expanding the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Trkiye in the IT field, highlighting the importance of digital opportunities in the modern economy. Tokayev also expressed appreciation for Trkiye's leadership under President Erdogan, acknowledging the country's achievements during this period.
During their discussions, Tokayev and Erdogan addressed bilateral relations, making decisions at the 5th meeting of the Trkiye-Kazakhstan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council to enhance cooperation in various sectors. Tokayev noted ongoing efforts to boost trade and investments, particularly in energy, construction, and infrastructure. He mentioned Kazakhstan's investment in Trkiye exceeding $2.5 billion and expressed readiness to support Turkish investors in transportation and energy projects.
Tokayev underscored the significance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, known as the Middle Corridor, given Kazakhstan's strategic location for land transportation between Europe and China. The two leaders also discussed global issues, expressing concern over conflicts and advocating for diplomatic solutions. Tokayev praised Trkiye's mediating role in the Russia-Ukraine conflict and reiterated Kazakhstan's support for preserving the territorial integrity of both nations.
Looking ahead, Tokayev affirmed Kazakhstan's commitment to continued collaboration with Trkiye in international forums, particularly within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), to promote global stability and security. He extended an invitation to President Erdogan to visit Kazakhstan, expressing a desire for the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
