Paris: A Paris court has awarded Kim Kardashian a symbolic pound 1 in damages for a 2016 armed robbery in which she was restrained at gunpoint and robbed of jewelry worth millions of euros. Her friend and stylist, Simone Harouche, who was also present during the robbery, received the same symbolic award.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kardashian and Harouche emphasized that the court's decision was more about accountability and recognition rather than financial compensation. In a statement provided to People magazine, they expressed gratitude to the French justice system and those who supported them throughout the case. They also mentioned their ongoing efforts to recover from the trauma of the event.

The robbery occurred in October 2016 while Kardashian was staying at the Hotel de Pourtales during Paris Fashion Week. A group of men, some impersonating police officers, entered the building in the early hours. Kardashian was held at gunpoint, bound with plastic ties and tape, and confined to a bathroom while the assailants looted the residence.

The thieves made off with jewelry worth millions of euros, including an engagement ring given to Kardashian by her then-husband, rapper Kanye West. Most of the stolen items were never recovered. French authorities arrested 17 suspects during the investigation, and in 2025, 10 individuals stood trial in Paris.

Kardashian traveled to Paris to testify, recounting her fear of potential sexual assault and death during the robbery. In May 2025, seven men and one woman were convicted of offenses related to the heist. Among those convicted was Aomar Ait Khedache, identified as the robbery's organizer. The defendants were dubbed 'les papys braqueurs,' or 'grandpa robbers,' due to several being in their 60s and 70s at the time of trial.

The civil judgment, nearly a decade after the event, finalized the damages to be awarded to Kardashian and others impacted by the crime.
