Ankara: The Kremlin on Monday expressed satisfaction with the United States' position against Ukraine joining NATO. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov communicated the administration's contentment with Washington's stance, which aligns with Russia's viewpoint on the matter.

According to Anadolu Agency, Peskov elaborated that Washington has communicated at various levels that Ukraine's membership in NATO is not being considered. This position is seen as aligning with Russia's interests, as Kremlin officials believe that Ukraine's integration into the military alliance would pose a threat to Russia's national security. Peskov identified this potential membership as a fundamental cause of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Peskov also addressed comments from US President Donald Trump, who expressed optimism that Russia and Ukraine might reach an agreement within the week. Peskov reiterated Moscow's openness to negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict but refrained from specifying a potential timeline for such a resolution.

President Trump noted on Sunday his hope for a resolution between the two nations, coinciding with the conclusion of a 30-hour Easter ceasefire. The ceasefire, which began on Saturday at 6 p.m. Moscow time, ended without extension as both Russia and Ukraine accused each other of violations.

Since taking office in January, President Trump has intensified diplomatic efforts to resolve the three-year conflict, engaging in direct talks with both Moscow and Kyiv. On Friday, Trump remarked that negotiations were nearing a critical point but cautioned that the United States would withdraw from ceasefire facilitation if either party made the process overly challenging.
