Moscow:Russia is confident that a comprehensive settlement in Ukraine is necessary, as stated by the Kremlin on Thursday.
According to Anadolu Agency, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Moscow has consistently maintained that partial solutions and agreements will impede the achievement of a comprehensive settlement. He highlighted the complexity of the issue, noting that a 'freeze' in the conflict would not be beneficial.
Peskov remarked on the importance of a solution for future generations that is both guaranteed and protected against setbacks. He mentioned that Russian President Vladimir Putin has addressed this topic on various occasions, including at the Valdai Discussion Club. Additionally, Peskov expressed Russia's appreciation for India's interest in contributing to the settlement efforts in Ukraine.
The Kremlin welcomed any initiatives or efforts by countries that could facilitate a peaceful resolution regarding Ukraine. Peskov specifically mentioned the need to encourage the Kyiv regime and European nations towards a peaceful phase.
Regarding President Putin's birthday on Wednesday, Peskov noted that there was no congratulatory telegram from US President Donald Trump. However, he clarified that the timing of a phone conversation between Putin and Trump had yet to be determined, with no delays in coordinating the call.
Peskov also addressed the potential withdrawal of Iran from the Non-Proliferation Treaty, suggesting that this topic might be discussed during a meeting between Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) leaders' summit in Turkmenistan on Friday. Putin is set to depart on a two-day visit to Turkmenistan on Thursday to attend the CIS summit and an environmental summit with the five Caspian littoral states: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Russia, and Turkmenistan.
