Moscow: The Kremlin stated that peace in Ukraine could be achieved if Kyiv withdraws its forces from territories currently under Russian control.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov conveyed this position in an interview with French weekly Le Point. He responded affirmatively to the possibility of ending the conflict if Ukraine pulls back from the four regions in question.

Peskov also mentioned that U.S. President Donald Trump has not imposed any deadlines for a ceasefire in Ukraine, describing such timelines as 'inappropriate.' He stated that President Vladimir Putin is in favor of a ceasefire. Furthermore, Peskov emphasized the separation of negotiations regarding Moscow-Washington relations from discussions about peace in Ukraine.

However, Peskov highlighted that resolving the conflict with Ukraine is linked to normalizing relations between Washington and Moscow. When asked about President Putin's perspective on Trump, Peskov noted Putin's respect for Trump as a strong political figure.

Peskov added that a meeting between Trump and Putin is expected to be productive, with preparatory work ongoing. He concluded that both leaders prioritize their national interests but are willing to address challenging issues through dialogue.
