Moscow: US deliveries of Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv could lead to a "serious escalation," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in response to a question Tuesday.
According to Anadolu Agency, Peskov emphasized the gravity of the situation by highlighting that the missiles in question could potentially be nuclear-capable. He described this development as a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict. Peskov further referred to Russian President Vladimir Putin's recent statements, explaining that Moscow's stance was clearly outlined during a meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club. He reiterated that while this move would escalate tensions, it would not alter the situation on the ground for Kyiv.
Peskov expressed Russia's assumption that US President Donald Trump still aims to facilitate a peaceful resolution to the Ukrainian conflict through negotiations. Despite the ongoing tensions, Peskov noted that dialogue between Russia and the US remains active at various levels. While diplomatic channels are described as subdued, interactions at the level of heads of state are reportedly more dynamic.
