Kuwait city: Kuwait’s Interior Ministry announced on Tuesday the arrest of four individuals allegedly affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) who were attempting to enter the country by sea.

According to Anadolu Agency, the state news agency KUNA cited the ministry, revealing that during interrogation, the detained individuals confessed their affiliation with Iran’s IRGC. The ministry reported that the suspects admitted to being tasked with infiltrating Bubiyan Island using a rented fishing boat, purportedly for executing “hostile acts against Kuwait.”

The incident resulted in a security member being injured during clashes with the infiltrators. In response, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry condemned the act and held Iran fully responsible for these actions.

The arrests occur amid rising regional tensions since February 28, when the US and Israel launched strikes against Iran, leading to Tehran’s retaliation against Israel and US allies in the Gulf, and the subsequent closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

A ceasefire was initiated on April 8 through mediation by Pakistan, though negotiations in Islamabad failed to secure a lasting peace agreement. The truce was later extended by US President Donald Trump without a specified deadline.

Despite these developments, on Sunday, Iran sent its response to Pakistan regarding a US proposal to end the conflict. However, President Trump dismissed the response as “totally unacceptable.”
