Kuwait Detects 32 Drones Fired by Iran Amid Rising US-Iran Tensions

Kuwait city: The Kuwaiti army reported that 32 drones were fired by Iran toward key installations in the country on Thursday amidst growing tensions between Tehran and Washington. "These drones were intercepted and engaged," Defense Ministry spokesman Saud Al-Atwan stated, noting that while there was material damage from the debris, no casualties were reported.

According to Anadolu Agency, the incident is part of a broader escalation between the US and Iran, with Iran's military announcing earlier that day the launch of strikes on US radar and air defense assets in Kuwait and Bahrain. This move is said to be part of Iran's retaliatory measures following US attacks against Tehran.

The ongoing tensions have centered around the Strait of Hormuz, with both nations exchanging hostilities despite efforts by Pakistan to mediate a memorandum of understanding aimed at resolving the conflict and establishing a lasting peace agreement. The Kuwaiti army emphasized its continued readiness to bolster national security and protect the well-being of its citizens and residents.
