Kuwait city: Kuwait said Sunday more than 1,000 missiles and drones targeted the country from Iran since the start of the US-Israeli war on Tehran. In a statement, the Defense Ministry said 336 ballistic missiles, 13 cruise missiles, and 740 drones were fired from Iran toward the Kuwaiti territory since Feb. 28.

According to Anadolu Agency, the ministry reported that air defenses dealt with 9 ballistic missiles, 4 cruise missiles, and 31 drones from Iran in the past 24 hours. No details were given about injuries or damage from the attacks.

The ministry said a power generation unit, a water desalination plant, an oil facility, and several operational facilities of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation were the targets of Iranian attacks in recent days.

Regional tensions have escalated since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, killing more than 1,340 people to date, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets. Iran has also restricted the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
