Ankara: Kyrgyzstan's parliament on Thursday voted to adopt a draft resolution on holding the country's upcoming presidential election on Jan. 27, 2027.

According to Anadolu Agency,The decision was announced by the press service of the Supreme Council, or Jogorku Kenesh, which said the deputies reviewed and adopted the resolution during Thursday's parliamentary session.

While no details were given concerning the vote, Kyrgyz news agency AKIpress reported that all 86 deputies in attendance during the session supported the resolution's adoption.

The Jogorku Kenesh statement added that Parliament Speaker Marlen Mamataliev said the decision was intended to 'encourage active voter participation in the election campaign.'

It further quoted Mamataliev as saying that citizens who participate in the voting process will receive their full wages for that workday.

According to the statement, Mamataliev also said that deputies or the country's president would continue to exercise their powers if they register as candidates, citing Article 21 of Kyrgyzstan's electoral law, describing this approach as 'essential for ensuring state stability.'

'Today, the Jogorku Kenesh fulfilled the duty mandated by the Constitution. Following the adoption of this resolution, the electoral process will proceed in the manner prescribed by law. . Now, all parties must strictly observe the requirements of the law and act in accordance with them," he added.
