Lebanese and UAE Presidents Engage in Phone Discussion on Lebanon-Israel Framework Deal

Beirut: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and his UAE counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan have discussed a US-brokered deal between Lebanon and Israel, as reported by the Lebanese Presidency on Saturday. According to Anadolu Agency, the conversations occurred over a phone call, during which they addressed the broader regional context in light of recent developments.

Al Nahyan conveyed the UAE's support for Lebanon and the positions taken by President Aoun and the Lebanese government concerning the agreement. The UAE president further expressed his nation's "readiness to assist Lebanon politically, economically, and socially to help it overcome its current challenges."

President Aoun expressed gratitude towards Al Nahyan for the UAE's support for Lebanon and its people, as noted by the presidency.

Beirut and Tel Aviv finalized a US-brokered framework deal in Washington on Friday. This agreement marked the conclusion of the fifth round of negotiations aimed at resolving outstanding disputes between the two countries. The need for such discussions became more pressing following Israeli attacks that, according to Lebanese authorities, resulted in over 4,000 deaths and more than 4,000 injuries in Lebanon since March 2.
