Arsal: The Lebanese army announced on Tuesday that it has seized Grad rockets smuggled from Syria, arresting two suspects linked to the cross-border trafficking operation. According to Anadolu Agency, a military statement revealed that an army unit intercepted 122 mm Grad rockets on the outskirts of the eastern town of Arsal, near the Syrian border, after they were smuggled into Lebanon.

Troops halted a pickup truck used for transporting the rockets and detained two Lebanese citizens believed to be members of the smuggling network. The army's ongoing efforts include raids to locate other network members, during which ammunition and military equipment were confiscated.

The military statement did not disclose the intended recipient of the weapons or any affiliations of the arrested suspects. The seized weapons have been handed over to the relevant authorities, and the suspects are under investigation, with efforts underway to capture the remaining network members.

Last month, Syrian authorities claimed to have thwarted an attempt to smuggle 'advanced weapons and rockets' across the border with Iraq. The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) suggested the shipment was intended for Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The Syria-Lebanon border, stretching approximately 375 kilometers (233 miles) across diverse terrains, remains largely unfenced and without clearly marked boundaries.
