Washington: Lebanon and Israel's ambassadors to the United States began talks in Washington, DC on Tuesday in an effort to break a deadlock in a US-brokered diplomatic process, a Lebanese official source told Anadolu. The discussions aim to address ongoing developments in Lebanon and the implementation of a framework agreement reached earlier in June.

According to Anadolu Agency, the meeting occurs amidst a postponement of scheduled negotiations between Israel and Lebanon, which were originally set to take place this week in Rome. These talks have now been rescheduled for October. This dialogue marks a continuation of high-level diplomatic negotiations that officially began on April 14, 2026, with a historic US-sponsored meeting hosted at the US State Department.

The ongoing discussions are part of a larger diplomatic effort that has tackled significant issues such as a ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces, border security arrangements, and the status of prisoners and missing persons. On June 26, Lebanon and Israel signed a US-sponsored framework deal in Washington. This agreement outlines a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory and the subsequent deployment of the Lebanese Army in those areas vacated by Israeli forces.
