Beirut: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun warned on Sunday that US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities raise the risk of widening regional tensions and threaten security and stability across the region. Lebanon is 'more aware than ever of the heavy price it has paid due to wars on its soil and in the region,' Aoun stated, emphasizing that Lebanon 'is unwilling to pay more' and that there is 'no national interest' in further involvement.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Lebanese leader called for restraint and the launch of 'constructive and serious negotiations to restore stability to regional countries and avoid further killing and destruction.' This statement comes in response to US President Donald Trump's announcement that his forces bombed three Iranian nuclear sites in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan.

The attacks mark the latest escalation in a US-backed Israeli military assault on Iran, which began on June 13. In retaliation, Tehran launched attacks on Israel, leading to a reported 25 fatalities and hundreds of injuries due to Iranian missile attacks, according to Israeli authorities.

Meanwhile, the Iranian Health Ministry reported that 430 people have been killed and more than 3,500 wounded in the ongoing Israeli assault on Iran. The situation continues to evolve as regional leaders and international stakeholders call for de-escalation and dialogue.
