Lebanese Soldier Killed in Israeli Strike Amid Ceasefire Violations

Beirut: A Lebanese soldier was killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon, the military said Wednesday, as Israel continued daily violations of an ongoing ceasefire.

According to Anadolu Agency, the army stated that the soldier was targeted and killed while traveling on the Nabatieh-Kfartebnit road. This incident occurred shortly after Lebanese and Israeli officials engaged in a fourth round of US-sponsored talks in Washington. These discussions are part of efforts to uphold the ceasefire and resolve outstanding security issues.

The ceasefire, which began on April 17 and was later extended until early July, has been consistently undermined by near-daily Israeli airstrikes and ground attacks. Since March 2, these Israeli actions have resulted in the deaths of nearly 3,500 people and have displaced over 1.6 million, as reported by Lebanese officials.
