Lebanon Reports Significant Damage to Homes Due to Israeli Ceasefire Violations

Beirut: Over the past three days, Israeli ceasefire violations have resulted in the destruction of 428 housing units in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanon's National Council for Scientific Research. This significant damage was highlighted in a report released during an event focused on launching a 'strategic framework for environmental recovery after the war.'

According to Anadolu Agency, the report also noted that an additional 50 housing units sustained damage during the same period. The council's findings further revealed that during the 46 days of Israeli assaults prior to the recent ceasefire, a total of 17,756 housing units were completely destroyed, while another 32,668 were damaged.

The report also detailed ongoing operations by the Israeli army, which has continued demolishing and blowing up homes in certain towns under its occupation in southern Lebanon, as reported by Lebanon's official news agency. Since the escalation of attacks on March 2, official figures indicate that the conflict has resulted in 2,454 deaths, 7,658 injuries, and the displacement of over 1 million people.

In a bid to address the ongoing conflict, Lebanon and Israel held ambassadorial-level talks in Washington on April 15, marking their first negotiations in 43 years. A second round of negotiations is scheduled to take place in Washington on Thursday, as confirmed by a senior Lebanese source.
