Accra:Lithuania is investing over $38 million to expand its military refueling network to enhance support for its armed forces and NATO-allied troops. This initiative, reported by the Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT and citing the Defense Ministry, aims to bolster military readiness and operational capabilities.
According to Anadolu Agency, the expansion project includes the establishment of refueling stations, fuel storage facilities, and vehicle wash stations at military units situated in strategically important locations. Some of these facilities have already been completed this year, with the majority of the infrastructure expected to be finished by 2027.
Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas emphasized the importance of the project, noting that it is designed to ensure reliable fuel reserves and uninterrupted supplies for combat, logistical, and administrative vehicles. This effort is part of a broader strategy to strengthen military readiness, operational mobility, and deterrence capabilities. The ministry also mentioned its collaboration with other state institutions to optimize the use of existing fuel storage facilities and related infrastructure.
