Daraa: Loud explosions were heard in southern Syria after Israeli air defenses intercepted Iranian missiles, Syrian media reported on Wednesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the explosions were heard in Daraa city, as reported by Al-Ikhbariya TV on the US social media platform X. This incident is part of a series of similar events that occurred earlier in the week when Israeli air defenses intercepted Iranian missiles in other regions of southern Syria.

These developments are taking place amid ongoing regional escalation that began when Israel and the US launched a joint attack on Iran on February 28, resulting in over 1,200 fatalities and more than 10,000 injuries. In retaliation, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries that host US military assets.
